World Heritage Site Plan for Cartagena

The aim of this proposal is to enhance and promote the tourism in Cartagena by taking advantage of the historical and natural resources that it still remains.
Cartagena is a coastal city with 200.000 inhabitants in the South East of Spain. Recently, there has been an important grow of tourism thanks to the change of the policies in the city and region. Before the city was eminently industrial and now it is touristic too.

Defensive heritage
Cartagena counts with many Cultural Interest Assets around the city: twenty coastal batteries, six castles and five towers. Most of them are in bad conditions but citizens and tourists are still visiting them due to the beauty of the places and the features of the fortress.

World Heritage Site Plan
According to the experts, Cartagena has enough potential to have this distinction and the correct way to achieve it it`s firstly by making a master plan. The Town Hall can leader this idea in the beginning. And they agree with all the institutions and companies with their corporate social responsibility policies and coordinating all the investments in a long-term project.

Transition plans
In the meantime, I would suggest new tourist daily tours to show this important heritage. For instance, all these fortresses have to be mentioned in the tourist website and maps to increase their popularity.

Conclusion
To sum up, I am convinced this proposal is accepted by the majority of the population. It would increase the employment rate and the possibilities of the city in a near future, in particular in the tourist sector.
